Hanns G Hh251 Driver For Mac

So, I got myself one of the low-end Dell Zino HD's, and a Hanns-G HH251 25' 1080p monitor, hoping to score a nice, small HTPC setup for less than $500. Sounds great.

However, when I hook the monitor up to the PC using HDMI, the monitor shrinks the picture by about a vertical inch, meaning it's ostensibly runnig at 1920x1080, but using fewer pixels than that to actually display it! Can anyone speculate as to why on earth this would happen? I can hook it up via VGA, in which case I'm limited to 1600x1200. I tried hooking the monitor up to my macbook via the included DVI-HDMI cable, and it displays at full resolution and full screen, nice crisp pixels. It's beautiful - so why won't it do that with pure HDMI? This leads me to suspect that HDCP is somehow screwing with me.

I don't need it for what I want this for (not using Blu-Ray). Can I turn it off at the video card level?

The internet at large, so far, has not been helpful. Maybe I should send the Dell back and look for a used Mac Mini. Or a better monitor. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Originally posted by seriousken: The monitor does not have any kind of stretch or fill option, an in any case, it's GETTING the full resolution, and then squishing it. The squishedness is present even at the BIOS setup screen. I'll check the drivers again (Radeon).

I had that same problem with my setup (Radeon 4650 feeding a TV). You can fix it by adjusting the overscan setting in the ATI driver. Open the Catalyst Control Center, select 'Displays'. There should be an icon representing your monitor, with a little triangle in an upper corner. Click on the triangle, and select 'configure' from the drop-down menu. In the resulting dialog box, find the overscan slider and fiddle with it until the image fills your screen.
