I am resubmitting this, since I didn't have the usb device plugged in when I ran ubuntu-bug to file, so it was missing the information. My Plantronics.Audio 995 headset works fine on my old MacBook Pro under Lucid, but on my ThinkPad W510 only recognizes it for audio input, or at least the Hardware tab in PulseAudio only says '1 Input' for Plantronics Wireless Audio.

Hi Edwin, If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. Here are my results with this mainline kernel: Linux fatso 2.6.35-999-generic #35 SMP Wed Jun 2 12:39:19 UTC 2010 x8664 GNU/Linux Additional hardware shows up in the Sound Preferences before the Plantronics USB audio device is plugged in. This appears to be because the sndhda codecnvhdmi module is loaded when I boot this kernel. High Definition Audio Controller 1 Output Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output Normally, I just see: Internal Audio 1 Output/1 Input Analog Stereo Duplex After I plug in the Plantronics USB device, I see: Plantronics Wireless Audio 1 Input Analog Mono Input When I unplug the Plantronics USB device, the Sound Preferences does not remove Plantronics from the Hardware tab as with the normal Lucid 2.6.32-22 kernel. I have attached the section of the kern.log when I plugged in and unplugged the Plantronics usb device. This bug report was marked as Incomplete and has not had any updated comments for quite some time.

Why did you mark it expired? I tested yet again today with the latest kernel in Lucid (2.6.32-24-generic #39-Ubuntu SMP) and it still has the same problem.

Here is the info from /var/log/syslog. I think this might generally be related to USB Audio as I see the same behavior with my Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0ccd:0028 TerraTec Electronic GmbH Aureon 5.1 MkII pavucontrol shows only input devices for the soundcard but no output devices.
